Secondly, plant root systems bind soil particles together, thereby enhancing soil cohesion and its resistance to erosion. This binding effect is especially crucial on steep slopes, where gravitational forces exert considerable pressure on the soil. In addition to these benefits, vegetation improves slope stability by enhancing the soil’s capacity to absorb water. Roots create channels within the soil, increasing its permeability and facilitating deeper water infiltration.
