Translocation, inversion, and duplication mutations rearrange the positions of genes on chromosomes, which can disrupt gene expression or regulation.
The effects of mutations on an organism’s phenotype can vary significantly depending on their location, frequency, and interactions with other genes and environmental factors. Some mutations are neutral, having no impact on the organism’s fitness or survival. Others can be deleterious, leading to diseases or decreased reproductive success. Conversely, certain mutations can be beneficial, providing new traits or adaptations that enhance an organism’s fitness in a changing environment.
